Hey guys,
My friend's 96 cobra recently started ticking at a very noticeable volume. It is not really temperature dependant but does speed up as the engine is revved. Almost sounds like a bad valve spring or something and I could only locate it to either cylinder 7 or 8. It is worrying him a lot because this would be a bad time for engine work so does anybody have any ideas?

thanx in advance

It may be a leak in his exhaust. I had the same problem and took the car to a muffler shop where they replaced the exhaust bolts and, voila, the problem went away. Hope this helps.

that was my first thought but it doesn't sound like an exhaust leak. It sounds like the tick in a watch but louder. Kinda like tapping an ink pen on a desk.

one of the guys on there was on to it. The sound has a set beat and doesn't change. click, click, click. The engine has 76k hard miles on it so it wouldn't surprise me at all for it to be internal

thanx for the link, anyone else got any input
