Hello, I'm new here and was pointed to this forum to see if I could get a little help with a fair price to list a couple items in the market.

Quick background: Many years ago, I was going to swap an '01 cobra crate engine with a T56 tranny into my '96 GT. Life happened and this stuff has just been sitting around and I'm looking to sell, but have absolutely no idea what a fair price would be. I'm not looking to pinch every penny out of them, but I also don't wanna get hosed, so looking for advice on what a fair price would be.

'01 Cobra Crate Engine: It's never been used, was bought new and has been sitting under tarps. The oil pan is dented on the bottom and it's dirty and weathered on the outside, but otherwise, it's never been touched.

T56 (TUET1259): Never been used. This has been sitting in a box in a garage, so no weathering, like new. The only exception to this is I found a small crack.

I hope it's ok to post a couple pics here (1 of each and 1 of the crack in the tranny). I have a lot more but just wanted to give a quick idea of condition.

The land of commies and socialists!
That's a tough one because the engine has obviously been sitting outside and the condition of the bores is a major concern.

Have you bore scoped them to check their condition to see how much rust they have?

Also the dented oil pan sets off alarms.

How did it happen and how bad of a
dent is it?

Is it severe enough that the impact could have hit the rotating assembly?

The crack in the bellhousing looks repairable but the trans should be fine.

I think you should figure all that out and then come up with a price.

if theyve been sitting around dry they need to be checked out internally, if they're all rusted to hell it doesn't matter that they have zero miles

Thank you for the replies, so far.

So it sounds like there's too many unknowns with the engine and I need to do some homework to be able to figure that one out. I've never worked on engines, so getting to the inside is beyond my mechanical abilities. Maybe I can approach some of the shops in the area.

As I mentioned, the transmission has been in a garage, boxed up, not exposed to the elements so to speak. Any price recommendations on that one? I don't want to turn this into a market post, as I intended to post there after some recommendations. $1k is a little less than I was hoping for based on prices I've seen online, but if that's realistic, it is what it is.

on the engine it's easy enough - you can get a cheap borescope that will work with your phone, just remove the spark plugs and look around in the cylinders, should be obvious if it's rusted up or not. Make sure you get one that has a light

Ah, much less complicated than I thought. Very helpful, thank you!

Any recommendations on pricing for T56 or the Engine if it's not rusted to shit? Ballpark figures welcome! Just trying to get an idea of a decent price range.

Not saying it isnt but even if has been sitting that does not lool like a new crate engine, I guess you installed all those used accessories? That transmission has been opened up, an unused T56 doesnt have silicone squeezing out of the case? I hope you get something for it but with dented pan, cracked trans and silicone popping out it would definitely be a --buyer beware. I wouldnt advise anyone to pay over 3k for all of it, if that!!
