Came across this in a few places reading specs on the Boss (including Ford's) and it says the 2013 HAS the Hill holder feature built in.
Honestly since Im pretty good on the clutch Ive never noticed it.
Saw this reference that how it works is discribed in the Mustang owners manuel...." You can find this topic discussed on page 166 of the Mustang Owner's guide (2nd printing) you get with your car."
Didn't get a chance to check that out as car is under cover now for winter. I knew the new GTs had this feature, but didnt think that the Boss's did. Anyone else know this? If so, how DOES it work exactly.

I don't know the actual "How", but it does work. Holds for I believe two seconds or whenever there is forward motion.

It's pretty sweet. They could have kept that on the Boss and got rid of the damn skip shift.

Yup. It's there. When I went for a test drive it was the first time I had driven a stick in about 20 years. I figured I might roll back on a hill so I left some room when I stopped. I was suprised to find that the car had the assist and noticed it and commented about it right away to the salesman. He had no clue of course about how it worked or that it even existed on the car.

I despise the hill hold feature because it is so unpredictable.

I've asked to see if it can be disabled, but Shaun@AED told me it's in the ABS circuitry and he can't get access to it through an SCT tuner.

Most hill holder features use the pressure that is in the brake lines when you come to a stop. If you mash the brake pedal down all the way it has a lot of pressure to hold the brakes with.

A simple and easy solution is when you are on a hill use the minimum amount of pressure to hold the car. The system has less pressure held against the pads and you can overcome it easier and let it release faster.

Until most people realize that they hate the hill hold feature.

Hey Guys! Found this discription in page 166 in Manuel as told.....check out how you can disable/enable easily by just hitting the brake 5 times in a row....

HILL START ASSIST (IF EQUIPPED)
WARNING: The hill start assist feature does not replace the
parking brake. When you leave the vehicle, always apply the
parking brake and shift the transmission into P (Park) for automatic
transmission or 1st gear for manual transmissions.
WARNING: You must remain in the vehicle once you have
activated the hill start assist feature.
WARNING: During all times, you are responsible for controlling
the vehicle, supervising the hill start assist system and
intervening, if required.
WARNING: If the engine is revved excessively, or if a
malfunction is detected when the hill start assist feature is active,
the hill start assist feature will be deactivated.

This feature makes it easier to pull away when the vehicle is on a slope
without the need to use the parking brake. When this feature is active,
the vehicle will remain stationary on the slope for two to three seconds
after you release the brake pedal. This allows you time to move your foot
from the brake to the accelerator pedal. The brakes are released
automatically once the engine has developed sufficient drive to prevent
the vehicle from rolling down the slope. This is an advantage when
pulling away on a slope, (for example from a car park ramp, traffic lights
or when reversing uphill into a parking space).
This feature is activated automatically on any slope that can result in
significant vehicle rollback. This feature will not operate if the parking
brake is activated.
Using Hill Start Assist
Note: If the engine is revved excessively, hill start assist will be
deactivated.
1. Press the brake pedal to bring the vehicle to a complete standstill.
Keep the brake pedal pressed.
2. If the sensors detect that the vehicle is on a slope, the hill start assist
feature will be activated automatically.
3. When you remove your foot from the brake pedal, the vehicle will
remain on the slope without rolling away for approximately two or three
seconds. This hold time will automatically be extended if you are in the
process of driving off.
4. Drive off in the normal manner. The brakes will be released
automatically.
Disabling and Enabling the Hill Start Assist Feature
Your vehicle comes with hill start assist already enabled. If desired, you
can disable the feature by following the procedure below.
The following procedure must be completed within 45 seconds or the
process will have to be repeated. Begin this procedure with the ignition
turned off. This procedure is for both disabling and enabling the hill start
assist system.
1. Apply parking brake to make sure the vehicle is not moving.
2. Turn the ignition on.
3. Place the vehicle in neutral gear.
4. Slowly press and release the brake pedal five times – make sure the
brake pedal is completely released each time.

Its winter in Western PA mountains....alot of time on my hands....haha
Honestly I saw that reference to page 166 in the manuel on the Ford Owners site....and looked up only page 166 on the online manuel as mine is in the glove box, the car is covered in the garage with the trickle charger on it and I was too lazy to pull all that out to get into the car and grab the real manuel....ah online stuff eh??

Figuring out when it works is a PITA. I'm pretty sure it only works if you clutch in, put it in 1st gear then release the brake. It will not function on my boss if i release the brake before putting it in 1st gear.

My 2013 boss must not have the option to turn off the hill holder with the brake on start up? Only way I have been able to turn it off is by holding down the advance track to turn off everything. My owners manual doesnt show anything either (I guess mine is the 1st edition).
