I think top of the heat shield does meet the hood blanket. At least it appears that way on mine.

It appears that way to me. I'd be scared it wouldn't be sealed with the blanket off and water getting into the intake. :uh oh:

I know when i wash mine the water gets on the radiator cover and forward, nothing on the blower snout or pulley. I have the filter in the fender so i dont know if water would affect it under the hood. What i do know is whenever i wash it or it rains, i'm under the hood drying and cleaning. I dont mind though, i kind of like the engine looking as good as the car.
