Hood Flaps... open or closed?

I took my hood blanket off and i leave my hood vents open all the time. even when its raining, which is all the time where i live.
does anyone else leave their vents open?

I tore mine off once I got the hood pad off. the flap i mean.

I have mine open all of the time in Florida. No problem and a cooler engine compartment.

Mine stay open, but she never see's the ran and if it ever snow's here, hell must have froze over.

I left mine on and used velcro. When it's raining or I wash the car I can close them up.:beer:

I velcroed mine back and have never closed them. I drive it daily and have had no issues with water.

Didn't have a clue they did that. Now I have to go and check it out!!

I removed my blanket and flaps as well, and have had no problems so far. I do notice, however, that whenever I wash the car or it rains, a decent amount of water gets on the MAF. Could this cause problems or lead to failure?

Mine are velcored open, I close them when it rains, seeing as how I park outside

The flaps are there to keep water from getting into the engine compartment. If you leave them open, believe me, water will get in. Just take your car to a car wash and then open your hood after. If you want optimum exhausting of hot air and maintain protection from heavy rain (which is when you would want the vents closed) use velcro as some have done. ;-)
