I know this is subject is old. I just want to simply drive a few points home with my experience.
I took my car to a dealer today to send the info to Ford for repair. Also I asked about the clearcoat on the decklid. Pictures were taken and sent to Ford. I found out that I was 1 month outside of my 3/36 warranty. The car has 23000 miles. Also corrosion is 5 year unlimited mileage but IT WILL NOT COVER IT IF IT DOES NOT HAVE A HOLE WHERE THE RUST IS. Mine does not. If I had been within my 3/36 they would have fixed the hood.
Now here is why I made this post. If you see any rust bubbles dont wait because the warranty started when the original owner purchased the car. I know this is common knowledge but do you know when your car was originally purchased if you bought it used?
Secondly, I called Ford 1 (800) 392-3673 and talked to customer service. The representative who was very helpful is going to see if Ford will fund some of the cost to paint the hood. They are gonna call me tomorrow and let me know.
Again this thread is just to drive home the point of not waiting. I am gonna start looking at aftermarket hoods. I like the Cervini Cobra R but since my car is black, I dont know if it will look as good as a white one. Google Sublime mustang and you will see what I am talking about.
If anyone wants pictures of the hood or decklid let me know and I will post them.
