*current maintenance on car: Oil change to Amsoil 5W-50, Trans rebuild (dealer) MGW shifter and Amsoil signature ATF, Motorcraft SP-405 (all) gapped to .035". Airaid replacement filter (dry element).
P0300 sets with freeze frame data with a pending P0300 stored. Had a pending p0304 with freeze frame but didnt set current after setting a flashing check engine light two nights ago. Hard dead miss #4 with fuel injector deactivation (when check engine light flashes) but while driving to pull over check light turned off, injector turned back on and normal engine operation ensued. Check light cleared itself but left pending code.
Inspected all wires to fuel injectors, all wires to coils. Plugs have a little over 1000 miles on them. Ford factory SP-405 gapped to .035" self installed. Replaced a set of NGK TR7IX that were in car when purchased used at carmax. Same check light flashing, misfire #4 p0304 set and cleared on its own while road testing car with NGKs in it.
Fuel trims in freeze frame data appear ok, seem to be pulling a little fuel so I think a vacuum leak somewhere could be ruled out at the moment.
Condition is really random, and getting a little frustrating tracking down whats been triggering this issue. Could a failing intermittent coil pack be causing this? Typically on Lexus/Toyota engines when a coil goes, it GOES. Dead right away either failure on secondary windings or failed ICM (rare) on the coil.
I have recently purchased an SCT tuner from the outstanding guys at VMP. Could I data log the car with it and save it if it happens again?
Need to figure out file hosting so I can post pics of FF data pulled from my Matco scanner. Any help appreciated!
