I agree, but losing them is still a painful event.
Had to put down our 17 year old Westie when he started having seizures...I cried like a baby when I got out to the car afterwards...

    Our 9 yr old Bulldog...

Oh don't get me wrong it's hard no matter what. we had our baby cremated because we couldn't just leave him there, he had to be home.

I was just saying I rather my dog go from old age then watch him pass in my arms as we reach to the emergency vet at 4am.

it’s going to take a long time to get used to coming home and not seeing Chaz.

Without a doubt, it will take a very long time. We don’t realize the impact a dog has on our daily routine until they are gone. I’m very sorry for your loss and about two weeks from now will mark 1 year that we had to put our dog, Bella down. She was 13 years old and hips weren’t keeping up anymore. Miss her everyday and just posting this picture makes me cry.

Yeah it will. And you’ll see shit all over the place that reminds you of him. And if you’re like me, you’ll end up crying like a little kid. But it will get better with time. I promise.

Had a breakdown yet happy moment while cooking. Chester (pictured on top of Chaz in the OP) would always sit on Chaz. Ellie has only let Chester do that once or twice and as soon as she noticed him would growl at him. Well this happened d5fe27a63e2817c66140e92e94a699a8.jpg Ellie knew he was there and let him stay. They are hurting too and it pains me. But I’m glad they have each other.

I know those “happy/sad” moments well, but have to say the pic made me smile. Hang in there man. Stay busy and give the rest of the pack lots of attention.

Oh man, sorry to hear that. You can't beat Labs in the dog department, one of the best breeds there are. Looked like a great dog. I lost my black Lab 6 years ago and still remember all the good times I had with her. They certainly become part of the family.
