Kind of but I am not 100% sure. I was more trying to explain that the rotors are basically the same minus the difference in diameter.

Now the brackets should bolt up but I could be missing something.

I think I'm finding sra guys use cobra irs caliper mounting brackets to allow them to use the cobra brakes so they must be compatible.

A while ago I bought a 03 cobra part out car. Had a factory irs in it with a bunch of suspension and brake upgrades. One of them was an 13" rear kit using factory caliper and a one piece rotor (cant remember the brand right now). I was excited to swap it over to my car but when I started pulling everything apart it was clear something was off. After finding part numbers on the parts it turns out it was for a sra car, not irs.
Now I dont know what's different but sra and irs are not direct swaps. My point is just make sure you have all the parts to switch over

For my 2003 GT with SRA I needed to purchase the Cobra brackets. This moves the caliper higher up to accommodate for the larger Cobra rotor. I ended up just purchasing the M-2300-M kit. Used mounting brackets and anti-moan brackets were running almost as much as what I paid for the whole kit on sale at JEG's ($311.11).

After doing a little more research the cobra irs calipers bolt directly to the spindle so no swapping brackets. I believe the cobra sra brackets people are referencing is actually Mach 1 stuff.

This means Baer rotors with a bracket to space the caliper off the irs spindle is the solution. Any takers?

As far as boring out stock master cylinder goes...I emailed a couple shops listed on google. One got back to me saying it would be cost prohibitive due to custom making piston and internals.

I think there is some misunderstanding here.

The anchor plates I talked about were never going to be installed on any IRS spindle. I was simply using them to explain that the rotor hats are the same and only the diameter and thickness of the rotor changes. Those plates are only for the SRA. Additionally the anchor plates I talked about come from 94-98 cobras, the Mach 1 and Bullitt. All of those cars including 99-04 cobras have the same brake calipers. The front caliper piston diameters changed over the years but everything else was basically the same save for the requirement of the anchor plates on the SRA.

What I was unsure of was the Baer brakes brackets. Yes they SHOULD bolt up but there may be something unique to the IRS spindles that would not allow them to work properly. I say this because they are not marketed for 99-04 cobras.

The Baer brackets are going to be too long because they're designed to take you from the gt smaller rotor up to the 13.25" rotor. Since the cobra rotor is larger the Baer mount on the cobra spindles would have the caliper to tall. A person would need to fabricate his own mount.

I picked all this up from a buddy that went SRA

I'll use them to mock up a 13" rear brake setup. I'll either have a local parts house that's good try to find an identical version of our rotor just bigger. If that strikes out I'll order that Baer plain rotors, hopefully it won't cost much.

Has anyone measured the piston size of their "43mm" rear calipers? I just received my Cardone 18-P4536 and 18-P4537 and both measure 41.4mm. Spec is 42.8mm. Not a major difference but not as advertised.

It's probably been sleeved and had a smaller piston put in when rebuilt. Remember, we're putting parts that may be 33 years old into 20 year old cars.

I thought @Mustang5L5 had posted up pics of his measurements and talked about this. Not positive though. Post 243?

I did see that but something didn’t seem right about that measurement. If I’m reading his caliper correctly, it is only 1.419” (36.04mm). That is very close to stock mustang GT spec (1.5”).

Sorry same picture different thread: Installing ATS Brembos on the 03 Cobra.
He says in post 92 that it measures right at 41-42mm but can't actually get the inside bore measurement. I think it's actually 1.619" which is 41.1226mm

I'm not sure if anyone has tried, but the Focus ST has a 335mm rotor that's slightly larger than the Cobra 330mm rotor. Only problem is the hub bore would need to be machines to a larger diameter and the bolt pattern would need to be redrilled to 5x114.3

I ordered one this past weekend but did not want to modify. The only other drawback would be the Focus ST rotor is vented from the face and not the back side like traditional rotors.

The rotor hat height was different also so that'll probably throw everything off. (Focus ST 335mm rotor)

I haven't read this whole thread. But I've been wanting to upgrade my brakes. This seems like a good option?
