What holds these in place?
Pulled my motor apart to find that both gears had come completely off. No good.

Yeah, not sure I understand your question. Bolts hold them in place...
Or are you talking about how there is no key in the keyway? The early modular cars are like that from the factory. They relied on torque from the bolt to hold them in place. You can buy woodruff keys for them real cheap. Cloyes has them for like $4 a piece.
