From what I've read it looks like the IC on the Lightning eventually gets gummed up with oil. I imagine this leads to a loss of charge cooling performance and might lead to what I'm experiencing - a light pinging at part throttle and a few pounds of boost when the truck is under load.
This pinging problem just recently started in the last 10k or so (I went to a lower timing tune as soon as I detected it, so no harm done). Now I'm tired of the sluggish performance with the low timing and want to go back to my old settings.
Questions:
*How much time should I budget for a IC remove, clean, and re-install?
*Do I need any gaskets?
*Anything else I should do while in there?
*Oil separator mod - is there a how to article?
My truck has 77k on it, has run flawlessly from the day I bought it new. Running a 6lb pulley and associated tune.
