Interior Light/Door Chime

I have a problem with 97. The interior light and door chime will come on and stay on, while during normal driving. The only solution is to stop the car, turn off ignition.


Any tip's or hints, before I start workin on her!

Check the little switch in the door jams.

My car is the opposite.
I'll have the car off, with the key in the ignition. Then open in the door and the chime doesn't do anything, then any random time later it will start to chime.
I notice if I jiggle the key, the chime will start/stop.
Try playing with the key/ignition when it's giving you the problems

Where is the switch in the door jam? I want to disable mine... Would this do it?

The switch is located in the door hinge area, either on the jamb or the front edge of the door. There may be some effects on the alarm system if you mess with the wiring.

The chime may be coming from the seat belt.

It was kinda tough driving home last night, all the glare from the interior light at night. Damn bulb was too hot, to take out.

I hope its the switch and not some phantom electrical problem.

Sorry, dude. Been stuck on 12 hour night shift's, haven't had a chance to fix the Cobra. Can't wait for some time off, to get some work done on her.

Did you check the headlight switch to make sure it's not "clicked" into the interior light switch?

mine does the EXACT SAME thing!
