I would like to paint the bezel in the middle of the car (The one around the radio and heater knobs) The same red as the door pieces on a 10th anniversary cobra. Has anyone done this and what is the best product for that.?

I painted mine metallic silver to match my car, I went about it just like painting a car, sanded, primed, sanded, 3 coats of base coat, 3 coats of clear. Looks great

I have mine done a long with the door panels. I had mine done at a body shop when my front bumper got painted, and had them do it in a matte finish. Here are some pics.

Also, I posted a thread very similar to this back when, it might help you out.

Ford supposedly sells the 10th anni door panel paint, but I tried going to my Ford dealer and the guy in the parts department looked at me like I had 9 heads when I tried looking it up, so I gave up.

That's what I said before I got mine lol. I got it because I like it because its thinner. I bought it at a swap meet at mustang week spur of the moment. One of my favorite mods so far.

I like it cause of the Carbon look, thumb grips and it's thicker than my 99 wheel.

Sorry OP, don't mean to hijack your thread.

It's very easy to paint. I wiped it down with rubbing alcohol and painted it with just duplicitous silver paint. Not sure what color but it was a ford color. Then a few coats of clear. If you sand the trim smooth you will get a very smooth finish. Mine still has the texture of the plastic showing underneath the paint.

If you do it, then do it right and take your time and will last. I did this to my '03 F150..very similar interior plastics. Wet sanded through the various grits until smooth, 2-3 coats primer, 3 coats dupli-color, 3 coats clear. It held up for 8 year from -20F temps to 100F+ temps and never cracked.

Only word of advice, might want to consider a body shop type of clear coat if going gloss. The rattle can gloss could scratch if not careful.
