when the car is sitting still the rpms drop to 600 then it shoots up to 1200 rpms then back to normal. this happens repeatedly while at idle and i don't know what is wrong with it.

This has been happening with mine also, if you figure out the issue I'd love to know what it is. Same problem with idle, no CEL or anything obvious. I replaced a few of the vacuum hoses around the plenum and that seems to have fixed it for the time being. But we'll see once another cold day comes.
