No, not the truck (thank goodness!)
The stereo in the truck, however, died an ugly death.
I had swapped the stock double-DIN unit for a 2003 F150/Lightning unit with the in-dash 6-disc CD changer, and as a bonus got the ability to use the under-seat 6-disc changer that was original, for a total of (wooo) 12 discs!. And it worked great for about 5 years or so... that is, 'til recently.
A couple weeks ago, on my way to work at oh-dark-thirty, I went to change from one disc to another, and the changer started thrashing and popping; after a little bit of noise, and a couple discs popping out randomly, it just flat quit, with a "CD ERROR" on the display, but the back changer continued to work (albeit with some "fluttering" on the ends of computer-burned discs).
Well, this past Friday, I pulled the dash unit and back changer, tried to get the dash changer to reposition itself, but that utterly failed, it's a goner. The back unit, I did a bit of housekeeping (light oil, cleaning, etc), but when I got it in with the original head unit, it refused to see it, so I'm thinking it's a goner as well.
So, I did a bit of searching while at work the other morning, found a few double-DIN units on the BestBuy site, and went today to look and finger-fck a bit, and found a few that seem interesting:
These seem to be ranked pretty well, tho in playing with them they felt a tad cheap:

These weren't available at BB, but they came up in the searches:
[ame=http://www.amazon.com/Clarion-CX400-Double-DIN-Dash-Reciever/dp/B0032FOJG6]Amazon.com: Clarion CX400 Double-DIN In-Dash CD / MP3 / WMA / AAC Reciever with USB: Electronics: Reviews, Prices & more[/ame]

Now, the question is: what do I do?? I'm tempted to find a couple stock units and just replace them, because I'm a stickler for ergonomics and I like buttons. Remotes and touchscreens are worse than useless for me, I think they're damned dangerous and won't do it. I would like to have the ability to plug my iPhone in and use it as a jukebox; and all four of these units have that capability via Bluetooth, as well as phone functions, which would be an improvement over the stock units.
So what say ye, SVTP??
