i just read a article in the August issue of Sport Truck Magizine. Here they placed a set the jba headers on a stock 01' and gained 21 horsepower and an extra 33.4 lb-ft of torque.
from what i have heard there is no power to be gained from headers. how does everyone else feel, worth it or not?

NOT! They lie like cheap rugs.

If you are looking for a different (better?) sound then JBA is worth it. If you're looking for HP then spend your $$$$ on something else. I put JBA headers on my '00 and it sounds great but $600 for better sound is probably a little on the high side.

wyldman- so there is no truth to the article about a 21 hp gain?

flasvt-
sound is not really a large issue, i did just put a magnaflow on my 01' for a little meaner sound, but i am after h.p. and i thought after reading this article. if i kill two birds with one stone that would be good. 21 h.p. and make it sound more like an animal with one bolt-on then that would kick a$$. what difference did it make when you put yours on?

i am new at the lightning thing- the only mods i have are ram air and a muff.i read alot of magizines & forums and they all have conflicting opions. plus i don't know anyone that has a lightning, besides what i read. so i am stuck on what to get next, because of the fear of being lied too.
thanks for your alls input.

None. We have dyno tested every type of header we could get our hands on (except for the long tube headers, I ran out of money) and not one showed any gain above the standard mean variance from one pull to the next.

Save it for a chip, filter, pulley, torque converter, shift kit/valve body, tranny rebuild (harden it!), or gears. These are all worthwhile endeavors.

IMHO, my .02 worth....

Wyldeman -

If you want dyno sheets on the long-tubes on my 01 I have them. Seems like you have an interest in the headers.

If you read the article closely they throw different numbers out in the index. Bunch of BS; trying to sell their advertisors product.

wyldman-thanks for all of the info

i think im going to start with a s.b. throttle body(for better response)-then maybe a valve body- then a chip-

what else have you tested and what would you recommend in h.p. to money ratio?

Someone's selling me their JBA's for 2 bills so I can't resist , I also found a shop that will do all the labor for $195. That's 4 bills installed, sounds good to me.
