Jeep GC Power Steering Leak - Question

My Power Steering pump is losing fluid and is starting to whine a little.

I'm not a huge power steering guru, so my question is, if the pump completely fails, and I lose power steering, will it cause any other failures? Will it be driveable without? I've driven cars without power steering before. I'm just not down on spending the few hundred on it right now, and its my DD.

What your is your Jeep? There is a TSB about this if it's late model I believe.

EDIT: The long term solution to this is to never, ever buy another Chrysler product ever again.

Its a 2002.

and I realize that long term fix now. I'm 4yrs into a 5 year loan, so I'm just wainting to limp along until its paid off and then dump the thing.
