Just got the car tuned, now a roll-on application of throttle in 2nd breaks the tires loose. Ready to hit the track again!

Roush axle-backs, otherwise stock with 41k miles. Guy that used to work with BAMA did the tune for me.

Boss 302 LS wheels, 19x9/10 with 255/40 and 285/35 19" Pirelli P-Zero's My best 60' was a 2.03, when I was at the track last week. Only ran a 13.08 @ 109, DA was at 1809, and I was hitting fuel cut-off in 4th on the top end of the track. Wasn't sure if I should have gone for 5th or not, now it's a moot point.

Spinning from a 2nd gear roll? Sounds like you need some R888 tires out back.

And that's with a "BAMA" tune... now imagine what it would feel like with a REAL tune :p

Sorry, I couldn't resist lol :-D

Ah, but it's NOT a BAMA tune ;) I just said that the guy that did it USED to work with them.

He did a great job on my friends Terminator, completely changed the way it drove (and it was tuned previously).

Overall, I'm extremely happy with it. I notice a huge difference in the part-throttle tip-in at cruising speeds and the mid-range power.

My GT has been doing this since it was stock.
With the Tune, it just spins a lot harder.

I could use some better rubber, or a different rear gear.

Regardless, it is a lot of fun and my passengers seem to enjoy it. LOL!

This thread = lol.

I have a factory 3.73 car too and I certainly considered it a VERY strong performer stock.

However it does NOT burn tires from a 2nd gear roll.... especially from a low rpm.

Come on people.

You're absolutely correct, bone stock and even with the mufflers, it wouldn't break the tires loose from a roll in 2nd, even when it was 45 degrees outside. The only time I got wheel spin in 2nd was on a hard 1-2 power shift, then I had to pedal it.

Since I've gotten it tuned, it will break the tires loose from about 2500rpm up on a roll in 2nd. I've done it about three different times expecting it to pull like it used to and instead the rear of the car steps out. /shrug.

I look forward to getting back to the track to see how much it improves. Just getting the fuel cut-off moved is helpful to me :D

yeah I have 285's out back and if its not 70+ degrees out I have to watch throttle application in both first and second. If I romp 1st, I hit the rev limiter immediately on a roll in the power band. Second, depends on the day, temp, road. But more often than not if I am going through the gears and look in my rear view mirror, there are 2 light black marks all the way through 1st and 2nd, and into the beginning of third. Track is 1 1/2 hours away and dyno is 2 hours so I haven't been to either this summer after the mods, but a stock car with just CAI Exhaust and tune could use some drag radials if you want to actually take off without massive tire spin or feathering the throttle.
