The concept lightning used something similar.

On our Cobra's think about it like this: Take out your whole stock intercooler system and throw it away. Rip out your air conditioning evaporator from under your dash and put it in between the blower and lower intake manifold (where the IC cooling radiator used to be. reassemble and turn a/c on high. viola'. an intercooler that will be able to achieve cooler than outside air temps.

This is a rough description of the lightning's system (it obviously switched from in cab evap to sc evap during WOT conditions). Plus the capacity would have to be much larger than regular "people comfort" ac systems. Rumor has it that a version of this system will make it onto the next generation lightning.

My scepticism of the "solid state" system at the begining of this thread is I have worked with them and they're efficient but not capable of handling a huge amount of BTU's (such as you would need with an intercooler system). Maybe they have made incredible advances in the last couple of years?
