I'm going to be installing some kind of system in the car. Maybe Escort Redline along with Laser Interceptor, or Escort 9500CI. Anyone have any thoughts/previous history with this kind of stuff? You think we're going to go 202 without some bacon looking out for us? :D

I just ordered the 9500ci after quite a bit of research. The reviews are very good and I have had fantastic results with their 8500 X50 which has saved my ass countless times over the last 6 years I have had it.

Please do yourself a favor and get a Valentine One, I had 2 9500ix's and both broke. I find the V1 to be a better detector anyway.

The v1 is a great detector. But with no-built on option...it's simply not an option for those that want it. Not to mention if you want laser protection, you need to get a whole separate unit.

Not to mention I've had my 8500 x50 since 2006- send it in yearly to be updated. And i've never had a problem.

My 9500ci (I've had it in two cars) saved my ass numerous times.

I have the valentine 1..love it, Its very impressive...only downside is it being so sensitive is it picking up every k band possible...like rite aid, cvs, homedepot etc....so it will give u false warnings. But any ka band or on the expressway it picks them up a looooooonggggg ways away!

Since I sold my '03, I've been out of the Detector loop. I still have my V1, which I always loved.

The escort live service looks promising though. Does that work as well as it seems that it would?

Does Valentine have that option, or is there a similar third part app that would work with the V1?

Any opinions on Beltronics STi-R built in model with Antilaser G9 jammers? It's supposed to be 100% undetectible if you believe the advertisments. I've never owned a radar detector before so I don't have any experience with which is best. This will be my first Mustang I have ever bought so I would like a little peace of mind.

I've got Passport 9500ix and in general, especially on the freeway it does pick up signals from a long way off. There have been a couple times when it did not sound off until I was so close, it wouldn't have much mattered, but that was when the LEO was hiding off to the side on a curve. Hwy 1 south of Santa Cruz CA is just a place one's better off just not to exceed by more than 5 mph at most because that's their main preoccupation. Other places, which I won't specify, I've been pulled over and loudly told, "listen, you don't have to do 65 out here, but you can't do 90." In late model vehicles nowadays, unless you're doing something reckless, you can pretty much cruise 75-80 in a 65 very safely and without hassle. I've also been out by China Lake Naval Air Base near Ridgecrest CA and had the laser alert sounding off like crazy for about a 20-mile zone and never, ever saw any LEO out there to account for the alarm and "LASER ALERT" voice, so I don't know why that is. For some reason, having that female voice barking is grating on the nerves but it sure gets my attention. Other than that place, my laser alert has only sounded off one or two other times in the year that I've had it, so I don't know what's up with that.

The K band and occasional X band is a bearable cost of doing business. Not that bad. And the dash-mounted flashing light is very helpful too because with music loud enough, which is often the case with me, I can't hear the beeping sometimes.

In general, a detector is without a doubt a great investment because however vigilant one is, you can't incessantly be on the lookout because of other stuff on the mind.

Probably a $39 Cobra. They have worked well in all of my vehicles. Last ticket I got, the officer said he tailed me for about 5 miles without his radar on. He asked me how fast did I think I was going. I smiled and said, "I don't know but you're getting ready to tell me." :lol1: Yeah I knew I was getting a ticket!

I thought this one was windshield mounted? Is it custom installed? Can anyone in CA verify that the laser shifters are illegal in this state?

It is windshield-mounted (comes with suction cup thingie or you can get a bracket installed for it), but I got an additionally installed: mute button & lights(blue to show sound-on/mute-off and yellow flashes for alert,so if you have it muted, or for whatever reason can't hear it even though it is on, you can still see the light flashing). That can be put anywhere you choose that is in view. (mute button also helps if you're rolling through a parking lot with your window down and some Po-Po either have their window down or are out of their car; or if you roll up to a stop light and you and Po-Po next to you have window down, because with volume turned up it's kinda uncomfortable to have it saying loudly "Ka band" and beeping when the Po-Po can obviously hear you. they tend to stare and with a car that needs one of these units in the first place, drawing attention from such folks probably isn't a very good idea, especially if you're in a small town because they tend to remember stuff like that) Mine's wired-in too. Done at a good shop in San Jose. As far as I know, laser jamming is illegal in CA.
