Where did you splice them?

it ended up about 1/2" in front of the little coin holder thing. i cut that out and put my power mirror adjustment there. the bottom had to be trimmed off. i just started by cutting 1/2" at a time off the front and 1" off the bottom. then once i got it close i started making small cuts until it fit. there was a small gap where the e-brake handle cutout meets the original shifter bezel. so i used snadable epoxy to fill it in and then painted it. the console also used to be light grey.

here is a pic of mine. 1990 AOD, Virgin except for flowmasters and an msd coil. Still has air silencer in fender. Had original plug wires with 1990 stamped on them up until last month. 82,000 original miles. Fox notches. FTW.
