I had no idea the Dodge Ram SRT10 had the speed record according the Guiness Book of Records. Now I see that record has been broken by the GM of Australia with an LS2 Motor. See full story in:

http://www.autoblog.com/2006/06/29/hsv-maloo-r8-ute-breaks-production-pickup-truck-speed-record/

Comments: This is the same LS2 in the Goat, SSR, C6 Non Z06 Vettes etc. I ownder if Ford of Aussie has a truck to compete? I am beginning to wonder more about that the LS2 Motor as well. Does anyone know what the SSR runs? Have any of you Lightning guys run up on an SSR ?

that isn't remotely close to being called a 'truck,' and it ONLY weights 3700lbs!

Whatever the hell that is, its a piece of garbage. And for everybody who thinks im hating on the truck because it holds the record, im not. Im glad the SRT-10 holds it. It just gives us Lightning owners all the more reason to go out and make them look like pigs. Put a Lightning and an SRT-10 and that thing side by side and lets see who has the most functionality as a "truck".

What happened to the Banks Sidewinder? Are we talking production trucks only? The Sidewinder did 2XXmph, it was a Banks-built diesel powered Dakota. That thing was meeean.

How is this not a truck? Hmm, cab, bed, I think it's a truck. It's just as functional as a Lightning or SRT-10 Ram.

Damn that thing is ugly. So, that was it's top speed, BUT what matters is how long it takes it to get there. I'm curious what it's 1/4 mile times might be.

Approxmately 168.5 MPH. Not bad for a truck. Well some say it is not a truck.
