i was thinkin of getting a 2000 lightning was kind of wondering what you guys thought about the truck as a good tow vehicle every one in a while, maybe towing a mustang and a trailer or a boat, do you think the tranny will last??

ive towed a car hauler with the mach on it and my dads boat many of times. never had a problem. the only thing i didnt like is the swb and single cab for towing kinda sucks compared to a crewcab f150.
It won't be a problem. We share the same trans. with the F250. I towed my wifes Jetta 3-400 miles a few years back.
Total trailer weight about 6500-7000 lbs. Only mods to truck were rear airbags and a Class 4 hitch. Towed it 2100 miles and the only issues I had were 30mph+ headwinds or hills.

+1, i towed my Mustang GT years back with my first 03 L and it was no problem at all.
