I'm trying to plan a surprise trip for my wife, 10th anniversary. We've been to Vegas, Florida, Cali and up and down the north east on a regular basis and I want to go somewhere new. Neither of us have been to New Orleans and I was thinking about taking her there. Anything going on there and is it worth a visit between May 29th and June 2nd?
If I do decide on New Orleans, what should make sure we don't miss?

Thanks, the quarter is what I'm thinking. Is it still kinda lively down there when there are no festivals? Weather ok during that time?

Should be something to do. Plenty of great restaurants, Delmonico is very good.
Weather will be hot and humid. Dress casual light, shorts, polo or tshirts. You'll be fine.

It will be lively no matter what. My wife and I stay in the quarter about a dozen times a year. The great thing about New Orleans is that you can park your car once for the entire weekend, and walk to: Lunch cafes, casino, aquirium, museums, shopping malls, bars/bourbon street, your hotel, and nice restaurants ... all the while carrying a to-go drink!

Acme Oyster bar, Cafe' Du Monde, Jack Dempsey's [for excellent fried seafood] the French market for open air shopping & Magazine Street for botiique shopping. There is the D-Day museum, you can even charter an airboat for a swamp tour if you wanna see what Louisiana is really about. I also recommend visiting the House of Blues in the French Quarter for good live music..
