do i need to be more concerned about breaking my rearend/other components running the m/t DR's as opposed to the Nitto DR. do they hook better at the track?

In a word, no. It would help if we knew more about your setup or if your rear end is stock, but in my case I've run both. 315/35 Nitto and 275/40 M/T DR. I personally think the M/T hooked like a MOFO!!! The M/T's hooked better than some full slicks I have run; truly a bad-ass tire. Not very forgiving in the rain though. If your power is going to stay at 455 rwhp then I wouldn't worry about breakage.

I have a set of M/T's right now and love them. I'm pushing over 650rwhp with n20 and they hook great on the street and track. I learned first hand about M/T's in the rain and was lucky that I was on a four lane hwy. I will never again drive in the rain or wet conditions with M/T's. Nitto's are a great all around tire in my book. I just ordered a new set of 315's with my FR500 black DD baby!!!!!
