Hey all you gun enthusiasts out there, I'm thinking about building an M14 rifle. Is this a good idea, and where are some good places to find parts. Also, im new to shooting and was wondering if a walnut U.S.G.I. stock would be better than a new synthetic stock. Any input is welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance!

P.s. Please post pictures/links of your guns, and/or M14 sites.

Look in the back of a few gun mags in the marketplace section.

Also I prefer the synthetic stock if it is to be a regular shooter as it is more resistant to dimensional changes do to temp and humidity factors.

Have fun it will be a good learning experience.

Personally I believe that every gun is a work of art, and to be kept as true to it's original form as possible. If it were me, I'd stick to a quality, more beautiful wood stock.
