Was a much more reliable weapon than our twin mount 50's. Our ships are small so we change crews out. I'd take over the armory in Bahrain and all the gun mount ammo would be unusable due to the sand and rust. It's the party ball rounds so we can't use it for training. I'd have C/C F that shit and store it till a ship returning to the states could take it home for demil. Such a waste of time and money. I told the Captain lets use ball ammo on the mounts and keep the party balls in the RSL's near the gun mounts. That way we could use it during quarterly training and then put fresh ball on the mounts. The biggest problem with the weapons was trying to eat rusty links. The Captain agreed and it became the norm. We could still pull the ball and replace with party ball quickly if needed or use the ball itself then go straight to party.

It must be hard to say no when your country asks you to fight and all you see is how honorable your service is. Not much different than when our government asks us.
