Manifold to Mid pipe question

On the stock manifolds, the bolts that the mid pipe bolts onto have a flange and a wider circumference Smooth area towards the top against where the gasket would be , does this need to be grinded away at all , or just replace with straight stud so the two flanges can seal together good ? Thank you guys

Had to grind the flange part off the studs on the driver side manifold. The socket wouldn't seal up all the way. This was an 01 Cobra
