I thought I read it wrong so went over it again. According to this article you lose hp by taking out the air silencer versus leaving it in. Page 178 chart . It also mentions the same thing in text on
pg 173. I have the K & N in mine w/the silencer pulled but now thinking about putting the silencer back in. Any thoughts?

i have had a GT before that lost hp because of this. To be honest, its different on every car....but I was thinking for a supercharged application like the Cobra, it would definately pick up a few extra ponies.

The silencers in the newer Fords are not like the ones in the pre-SN95 models. The pre-SN95 models were very restrictive and that is where the practice of removing the silencer came from. It is just one of those things everybody does without question because it was proven at one point to be beneficial even though it might not still be. I have mine on my stock air box currently.
