We didn't waste any time and neither did Mcleod at making sure we had some clutch options available for the 2011 5.0L Mustang. Seeing that several people including ourselves experienced issues with the stock clutch pedal sticking to the floor as well as some reports of slipping clutches it was something we felt that needed to be done.

That's where we stepped in and worked with our good friends at Mcleod Racing to come up with an answer to these issues. So we pulled our transmission and sent Mcleod our entire clutch assembly along with stock slave cylinder for them to check out and test and what we've come up with 2 already proven packages which utilize both the RST & RXT clutches as well as a lightened steel flywheel.

We'll have the RXT version in our car on Wed of next week just in time to test it out at the track on Wed night. We're very confident in this setup as we run the same RXT clutch in our 2010 GT500 which has gone [email protected] and has been flawless. We're very excited to be the first to market a clutch for the 2011 5.0L Mustang but to be putting one of these bad boys in our car as we know how well it works.

We will be able to start shipping these kits late next week for anyone that's interested so if you'd like to order one up you can do so by ordering online or by giving us a call.

We look forward to assisting you.

nice lookin set up, have heard nothing but good about mcleod! what caught my interest though was the lightened flywheel. how much lighter is it over stock? we already know these 5.0ls like to rev, i bet they'll respond very well to a lighter flywheel!

As assemblies with the lightened steel flywheel, the RST is 5 lbs lighter than stock, and the RXT is 1 lb lighter than stock. The stock stuff is 47.25 lbs IIRC. If you want to go with an aluminum flywheel, you can take off another 10+ lbs, but that's not recommended unless you have a car that stays on the road course or is going to be a crazy N/A race motor.

Is the stock clutch a twin disk?

Edit: nevermind, got my answer. No.

Review of the Mcleod RXT Twin Disc Clutch for the 5.0L Mustang-- AWESOME. We've had the clutch in our car for a few weeks now and it's just like we expected. Very smooth engagement, easy pedal effort and can handle the abuse of 3X Champ Jeremy Martorella powershifting.. LOL. The Mcleod RXT is by far our best selling clutch and I know will be a huge success in the 5.0L market. It's also the same clutch we run in our 9 sec 2010 GT500. If you have any questions about any of Mcleod Racing products please feel free to give us a call.
