I think there is a law that says your bumper has to be x" away from the ground, otherwise you get a ticket for it being too low. Is there a fine for regular trucks (F150s, Silverados, etc) that are jacked way too high?

I ask this because recently, there was an accident involving a lifted truck (+12" at least) that killed the driver of the car he t-boned. Had the truck not been lifted that high, who knows, the driver might still have lost their life, maybe not. Either way, lifted trucks are even less safe for cars on the road when they impact. So is there a law for a maximum modified height or similar?

There is in CA, don't know about Texas. The trouble with laws governing such issues is getting officers to enforce the statute.

There isn't any lift law that I'm aware of in TX... there is a max light height in TX however of 52" to center... there are ways around that law by mounting them on a bracket to make them lower...

Everything is bigger in Texas.

Not only are lifted trucks dangerous because of the added height, but they often use the stock brakes to slow down

There's a kid in my complex that has a huge, Rancho lifted, 33 inch tires F-150. He brought it out here from Irvine...So Cal and it was registered legally there. He moved to Nashville(song writer) and he still has the Cali plates because he said it's not legal here and they won't accept it for registration according to Tennessee state law. So yeah...it can be too tall to be legal...no idea on actual legal specs tho
