Pulled this from another thread over on the "dark side".

I totally thought that the 5.0 would just keep pulling based on previous experiences

"Buddy of mine with an intake and tune 5.0 with factory 3.73s against a bone stock C7 with about 100 miles on it. He only had the vette for a day so he's obviously still getting used to the car."

"Vette missed 3rd both races or it would have been pretty bad for the 5.0. Pretty impressive C7 considering the 5.0 is a solid 117mph car."

5.0 sounds good but vette was hauling in that second run. Wish we had cleaner runs without the missed shifts from the C7 driver.

I agree would have liked to have seen cleaner races. Obviously racing a vette past 130 is going to end in a disaster especially in a car with 3.73's The weight & aerodynamics really starting coming into play up top like that.

Hmmm..... Well it looks like all the blown and juiced 5.0's that have been out a while will be hunting for the new and lightly modded C7s.

But if history repeats itself then the H/C/I vettes to follow will be a handful

Would be interesting to see a full bolt-on NA 5.0 take one on. till 120 anyway.

With LS7 like powerband, I don't seen any 5.0 running with a C7 unless it's spraying or has forced induction.

Why is the OP saying the 5.0 was a 117 car?

mine traps consistently 116 with just a tune and radial. its been 117 and 118 a couple times as well. id like to run a stock one for shits n giggles. kinda wanna trade the 5.0 for one if they do well with h/c/i, even if its not a z06.

:rolling:

Here we go again. A Cobrajet setup 5.0 full weight with the exception of bigs and littles is capable of high 10's with a 123'ish trap speed. In a 1/4 dig type setting that will most certainly run with the C7. As it can run with and in some cases beat stock c6z's. Again, if this is a 50+ roll we're talking about then fine I give you that, again the weight and aerodynamics really start favoring the 2 person car at that point. a 15-120 roll. That 60k piece of bowtie is gonna be upset.

Vette driver needs a lesson in shifting a manual. You can hear the grind on the missed 3rd. Poor stingray. Aerodynamics won there gentlemen.

Wow! We all know that a bolt on 5.0 is fast so for that C7 to roll by that 5.0 like that after missing gears and looking for directions is very impressive.I have said from the begining that they will run mid 11s @ 120.

This.

If that 5.0 is really a 117 car then that C7 is around a 120-122mph car judging by the pull. Its not.

Considering they were way past that 120-122 speed when that Vette came around him, I don't think 5 MPH would be made up that quickly in the 1/4

Vette will trap 116-118 with a great driver behind it. Maybe 120 on a glory run.
