Hi

I'm new to this forum and have some basic Q's.

Assuming an '03 or '04 Lightning, what would be the most reliable way into the 12s? The truck would be daily driven and the fuel mileage would need to stay close to stock.

I was thinking possibly 4lb pulley, JLT or similar, and possibly Magnaflow mufflers welded in.

With about a 2.0 60 ft, what would this combo run in the 1/4? Would it require a tune, or would it be safe as-is?

Thanks for any opinions.

Nick

I'll be honest with ya, I seriously doubt you will ever see a 12 second time slip with a 2.0 60' time. But with those mods you listed you could run 12's. Not consistant 12's but you could run 12's. It takes a few more mods to run consistant 12's but you would be real close to it. And if you are worried about gas mileage you got the wrong vehicle. And yes you will need a chip, and some plugs would not be a bad investment either.

With a 1.9x 60' time, I ran a 12.87@108 on my stock F1 tires, street tune, exactly how I run the truck on the street. That was with 1650 D/A air my first time out with all my mods.

I have a FTVB, 4lb lower, Apten ported blower, 2.8" upper, NGK TR6's gapped 38, a 12" open element air filter, and a Predator with a custom street tune from RWTD.

I managed a 12.95 with a 2.0 60' time. It is possible. My mods are in my sig. and this is my daily driver. Oh, my best time was also on F1's, in 90 degree temps.

I saw someone I believe over at NLOC have like a 12.8 or something on a 2.0 60ft. I want to know how you guys with 12.8 or 12.9 are trapping at 108ish....so far my besty is a 13.19 @ 103 w ith a 1.9 60.... the previous owner reported a best of 12.9X on F1s, but you guys have 4-5 mph on me, and I wouldn't think you would gan that much mph in these trucks with .3 of s econd

I posted this a couple days ago about finally making it into the 12s and this was done with a daily driven 99 with 113K miles on her.

Mods are:
Predator (RWTD), 2.80 upper, 4lb lower, 90mm MAF, t/b, C&L tube, line mod, CAI, efan, water pump, Bassani Cat back, DRs. The run was done in full trim with a little under a half tank of gas and a hard bed cover.

60' ---- 2.076
330 --- 5.532
1/8 --- 8.374
MPH -- 86.20
1000'- 10.858
1/4 --- 12.962
MPH - 106.84

Hope this helps you out with your decision.

Well for one we would need to know your mods, weather, ect... but I would say it is the tune. They guy that had it before you probably have a really safe tune in the truck, just a thought.

My 2000 L has gone 12.95 @ 106.12 with only 3 simple mods....

1. 4 lb. lower pulley
2. K&N open air filter (12")
3. JLP Diablo chip

This was on the F1's, with cool air (low 60's with 1000' elev.) and a cool engine. It actually repeated the 12.95 again that day with a warmer engine. It's all in the 60' time. Both of my 12 sec runs had 60's in the 1.90-1.94 range. On a decent track it's not hard to get 1.90's on the F1's.

I have a 2001 with a 4lb pulley, conservative SCT chip, Airraid CAI, FTVB, and Magnaflow Catback. With Nitto's a ran a 12.87 at 105mph in October.
