Does anyone know some mods i should do While I have the motor out being rebuilt. I am thinking about having the heads ported. Is there any othere things I should do? I am thinking about making it a 5.0 stroker to get a little more HP too.

Get a real windage tray, they only run $70-100 and the stock one is a joke.

P&P full intake, heads (both in and out)
aggressive cams
oversize valves (at least better flowing valves than stock) & good valve job
better valve guides, retainers, springs
forged pistons*, rods, etc (go as light as you can without compromising strength for your intended application's power range)
*adjust CR based on what you want to do with it*
blueprint everything you can afford to
do some cleaning up of the casting in oil and coolant passages
upgrade oil pump gears and pickup
upgrade radiator and perhaps lower temp thermostat

you sure you wanna go stroker 5.0 rather than BB 5.0??? i know it costs a bit more in machining costs but I'm not seeing many of the big builders going this route on a stock bore, and I can't help but think there is a reason for that (although this is pure speculation based on anecdotal info at this point).
