Ever see what the engine block is made of on some of those Saturns? It's just pot metal.

That pot metal is called aluminum. All aluminum motor pretty damn advanced for being developed in the '80s. Oil burning is the only downfall of the old Saturns. Your friend could of gone at least 250k if he keep oil in it

Just sold my 98 Civic CX hatch(1.6 non vtec) with 274k miles still going strong on the original engine and 5spd trans. Just wanted something with more room. It always got around 30-32 mpg on my 60 mile daily work trip.

Bought a 145k mile 01 Accord EX V6 from a buddy that was the original owner for $2700. It's been getting 24 mpg avg and right at 30 on an all highway trip. Hard to go wrong with an older Honda long as its been kept up.
