In a zoo in California, a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of
triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the
pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size,
they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started
to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The
veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a
depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate
another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve.

After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing
news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to
the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that
had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one
species will take on the care of a different species. The only orphans"
that could be found quickly, were a litter of weaner pigs. The zoo
keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the
babies around the mother tiger. Would they become cubs or pork chops??
Take a look....... you won't believe your eyes!!

Was watching Nat'l Geographic today and a Leopard killed a baboon and dragged it into a tree. When it got the baboon up there it realized something was moving. A one day old baby baboon. She didn't eat her on the spot, rather protected her from hyenas and slept with the baby. The baby froze to death in the cold night air but it was a trip. Anyway, i think the tiger will have pork chops soon.

+1 I was watching that today on the Nat'l Geo Channel also. At first i thought the leopard was gonna eat the baby. I guess i didnt catch the part when they said it died in the cold. I was wondering what happened to the baby baboon.

Yeah I saw that one a while back. I too didn't catch the part where they said it died in the cold.

Where in the hell did they get the tiger skin from? It couldn't have been from the 3 that died.....Hmmmm

thats pretty cool. I saw a news paper clipping a long time ago where a young mother put her newborn baby with some rottweiler dogs expecting the dogs would dispose of her unwanted baby for her. Turns out the rotts were taking care of the baby as one of there own when the owners discovered what had happened. Pretty crazy.
