I Know first hand... I own a Gixxer.

I know theres a thread already for this but I'm busy at work and dont feel like searching.

I hate hearing about crashes and they happen so often. I have two friends who are just graduating high school and they want to get bikes, and I cant seem to get it through their heads that you can get seriously injured on a bike or end up dead. :nonono: Something like this should show them.

To all who ride! ALWAYS double check. No exceptions.

On a side note, I believe that is a cobra that was involved in the accident.

Ive ridden motorcycles since I was 12 and still own an 07 GSXR600.

Unfortunately, I had a friend I went to school with that died two or so years ago. Car pulled out in front of him and bam, that was it.

Whats weird is that 4 years prior, he was in a really bad motorcycle wreck, so what do his parents do? Buy him an 06 GSXR1000...

I'll never understand that, but RIP.

You really have to be conscious about your surroundings at ALL times. Some people just dont realize it.

Motorcycles are not dangerous, people in cars that don't signal or slow down while changing lanes are.

Definitely an 01 Cobra in that crash.

Amazing that a guy made a left turn in front of a bike causing the bike to crash horribly, but there were no citations given in the accident... How is that not the Cobra driver's fault?! Plus all the news cares about was that debris went flying towards 'families at an ice cream shop'. How about the biker who was flying through the air towards the families because of some dumbass that didn't see him?

Can't say that I've ever put a motorcyclist in danger when I was driving. Only time I've come close is when they were cruising right on my ass or very close to me in a blind spot. I hate inattentive drivers, but I also hate inconsiderate bikers.

Everytime I mention motorcycles around anyone in my family, they go nuts telling me not to get one. Still, both my mom and dad had their motorcycle learners permit when they were younger. I'll still always consider getting one.

I had a buddy three years ago pass away from someone doing the samething to him. Just riding along at 40 or so and some old hag who should be driving pulled out right in front of him.

LOL. Okay I'll let ya take it out. But I might have to charge ya a renters fee. :-D

True that Motorcycles themselves are not dangerous. And also that its the usually people in cars who dont give 2 Sh*ts about the bikers. But I also blame unexperienced riders. They think they can hop on a bike and everyone knows they are on the road, and can drive like ass-clowns. I've seen alot of it.

I dont understand why its not the Cobra Drivers fault. If you are taking a left hand turn on a main road, you should be able to see whats coming towards you. And if you arent paying attention (possibly lookin for the best spot to show off the cobra at the ice cream stand) and cut across to pull in with out any warning, it would be his fault.

Still no one will know until the circumstances of the accident are released.

Anyone who has not ridden a bike on the street must try it. It is like being in a movie as opposed to just watching one. I read a lot of statistics lately and the majority of bike accidents involve rider error.

Just got off the phone with a friend. Guys been riding for a good 15 years, someone pulled out in front of him, he swervd hit the curb, and is layed up with road rash. No gear, pulled a squid. Weird considering hes a grown man, guess he`ll never not wear gear again.

Yes they are. I bet there are plenty of motorcycle accidents that don't involve another car, or the car involved was actually hit by the bike. How many morons are there out there thinking they can weave in and out of traffic, or do stunts on the street, that crash on their own. Bikes are dangerous. All vehicles are. It's very easy to get into an accident in any car or bike if you don't respect it.

Very true statement. I would say its 50% danger of the vehicle, and 50% driver/rider mod.

I just dont understand people who have very minimal experience on anything with 2 wheels, who go out and try to be badass... They just end up getting hurt.

I used to ride at a place called Area-51 (Lame I know). It was known, even by police who allowed it, that people go there to stunt. But of course some young kid who just bought a bike went to go "stunt". Attempted a power wheelie (no clutch) like a dumbass and f'ed himself up. Cant ride there anymore.

Long story short inexperienced riders are clueless. Trust me I know, I was one, at one point lol.

if they have the attitude that they arent going to get hurt, they dont deserve to get on that bike.

you WILL fall. There are two types of riders, those that have fallen, and those that are going to fall. If you can get on a bike with that in mind, then you deserve to be a rider. If you shrug that off as nonsense, you are just another dumb statistic and likely wont survive your first fall, and if you do, youll call it quits and then be against riding cause you didnt want to believe a simple fact of riding.

Everytime i sat on that bike those words went through my head. Putting on my gear i would always think "this could be the last outfit i put on". I even wrote my parents a letter acknowledging that fact and saying if something did happen, i take full responsibility for getting on the bike (not peer pressure) and are fully aware of the dangers and risks. I didnt want them to become all anti-rider anti-motorcycle activist group; nor did i want them to put any blame on the other party involved as i believe everything happens for a reason.

i miss it everytime i see a nice bike drive by. Id get another, but i fell in love with the Canam Spyder. Something just badass looking about something that looks like a Snowmobile flying down the street, with the same power as a crotch rocket (little slower cause of weight), turns excellent and you can mount a really nice 245 out back and get some good traction. Too expensive right now though and the aftermarket doesnt seem to be there yet. Surprising with that type of configuration we havent seen turbo kits or big rear kits to really bring out the ability of it.

To each his own. Some people like watching porn, others would rather have sex.
