I have a bolt on 2012 and I'm looking at the ET street R tire in bias ply. Car has a manual trans and I'm curious if anyone has used this tire and how it worked.

I ran 11.45@120 on a 315/35r17 Hoosier drag radial but I'm looking for a more forgiving sidewall. Will be using a 15x10 JMS wheel with this tire with matching bias ply fronts.

Thanks

For anyone else also wondering, reading on yellowbullet, the guys say the tire works good but the Hoosier dot QuickTime Pro is a better tire for a manual trans car. A lot of fast manual guys really like this tire over there.

I agree with you, the bias ply is the way to go with the manual trans and I've always had good luck with the Hoosier QTPs.
I'm trying to find a way to use them on my '14 GT500 rear brakes.
What size you going with?

Correct, I have 9" ends on my 8.8 and trying to find a brake kit I like that allows a 16x10" Bogart wheel and the 28x13.5x16 QTP.

I've used that exact size you want on my Fox way back in the day with success.
You might want a 27-28" tire on the s197?

Cool, I assumed you choose it for a reason, not enough people gear a car for the drag strip and just ask what gear to run.
I run a 4.10 in my Shelby because it puts me right where I want it at the stripe. It actually trapped higher with the 4.10 than the 3.73 because it was optimal at the traps.
Well, good luck either way!

Same thing happened with my car. With a 28" tire it loses 2 mph, however, I'll need the 28" when I spray it.

The shelbys do run good with a gear. 1st is a little long, they have nearly a 28" tall tire stock and they can still turn 6500+ without issue. I've admired your set up for that reason, because you've taken a true drag racer approach and not just thrown a shitload of power at it.

Only if it grows, which might happen on a bias ply.
I run Revan Racing's 'dead hooker' rear springs that have an adj. spring perch so you can move the height if needed.
An almost 29" drag radial fit my 1.25" lowered car fine, but again, not a bias ply.

Do you think I'll have fitment issues being lowered 1.5" running a 28" tire?

You shouldn't. The black car runs a 28" slick which is a bias ply and will grow an it's on eibach sport line springs.

The white car ran a eibach pro kit spring kit for a while, also with 28" slicks.

Neither car had rubbing issues. Get the proper fitting wheels and an adjustable panhard bar and you should be fine.

My personal car runs a 26x11.5x15 Hoosier quick time pro.

The two above shelbys always ran the 28x10x15 Mickey Thompson slicks.
