My uncle owns a 1995 ATX SHO and there is a 1995 MTX SHO for sale near my house. He says that the power from the yamaha can cook the transmission because of the manual set up and he recommends me not purchasing this MTX. Is he correct or does he just not want another SHOer in the family???

MTXs are alot more reliable (talking trannies her) than the ATXs. The 94/95 ATXs are alot better than the first year (93) ATXs. I had a 93 ATX (118k) and never had a tranny problem with her. I now have a 90 MTX (122k), and it needs rebuilt, but after 12 years and 120k thats expected. I'd go fr it. Especially as the 95 MTXs are RARE!!!!!! Just like the 95 SC Manuals, rare cars....

BTW What color is it?

actually, alot of the ATXs are faster, due to few people being able to drive the MTXs as they were suppose to. My 93 ATX was undefeated against MTXs... :-D My 90 MTX wasn't too bad either...till the tranny went buh bye

My 93 ATX had 198,000 when I traded it in with no tranny problems!I still ran good with good power but with the miles and I seen the L for sale I went ahead and traded her in.I am thinking about getting a second car to have to park the truck. There is a 95 MTX for sale at a lot.I have never owned a stick car.How do I check to see if the clutch is on its way out???It has just over 100,000 on it.
