Ford Mustang Gains on Chevrolet Camaro - Auto Observer





The new Ford Mustang is gaining on the Chevrolet Camaro for sales.

The Mustang overtook the Camaro in June. The Camaro's percentage decline in June was nearly the amount that Mustang gained in sales.

But the Camaro remain significantly ahead of Mustang for the first six months of the year.

In June, Ford sold 8,974 Mustangs, which include the new version. That was a nearly 18-percent increase from June 2009.

General Motors sold 7,540 Camaro models in June, a 19-percent decline from a year ago.

The half-time score is 46,378 Camaro models sold to 40,035 Mustangs, making it one of the races to watch for 2010.

How many of those were 2010 models?

In addition to the new model, I'm sure part of the stangs sales increase was due to the smoking deals Ford had on the 2010 models to clear them out. I've recently seen several 2010's with paper tags, which would indicate that.

It'll be difficult to get a good read on which one is truely selling better
