My 96 vs 07 G35 (6spd)

Had some fun with the new G35's They got 300hp for people that don't know.

First race was in 1st gear I jumped ahead by a hood then kept pulling and stop when I was about 1 car ahead. 2nd race from a 45-50 roll, I got a strong jump on him I had one car on him, Then my friend was like he's coming up on ya (I was like f*** that) Put it in 3rd and put two car's on him!

Fun runs though they move for a v6 :rockon: My friend works for infiniti and allway's talk's about how fast the new G's are and felt they whould take me. It was nice to show him the cobra had more then the G

Good kill. I've raced my brother's '06 350Z 6-speed and walked it HARD every time, same with his '03 350Z. They are fun to drive and sorta quick, but I think they're kinda pigs. It seems like they just flat-out stop accelerating at 100mph or so. They pull pretty strong up til 100, then just fall off and barely pull.

What kind of power do 96 cobras put out stock? Not really familar with them. The 07 G35s/350zs are the quickest yet with improvements in both HP and TQ over previous models, but they're still the same displacement and N/A, so you can't expect miracles lol. The 07 350z should be able to achieve a low 13 stock once someone gets enough driving time I think. Nice kill.

BONE stock 96-98 Cobras make about 265rwhp, with a couple basic bolt-ons, 285rwhp. If you gear them down they'll run high 12's. My brother's old '03 350Z ran 13.99@101mph best (automatic BTW), but averaged 14.1-14.2's in the 99mph range. His new one runs better and is a 6-speed, but after driving it a lot, I couldn't see it running quicker than 13.50-13.60's. For some reason they don't like to be shifted hard it seems.

Ah, well then yes, it'd walk a stock pre-07 Z or G35. The new ones would put up more of a fight, but still the cobra would probably pull away. As far as the tranny...it's no muscle car tranny, that's for sure. It's designed for quick shifts.

I agree with this, it should be very soon.. They're trapping 105mph bone stock now. Very close to the same trap speed of a 03/04 Mach 1.

I'd be pissed if I bought a '06 Z and they started trapping 3-4MPH higher the next year.
