I'm asking for a little help here for anyone in the North Jersey area. Let me preface this by saying that when I lock my car, I check both doors, the trunk and hood to make sure they are locked twice before I walk away from my car. I am 100% that all doors were locked when I left the car.

Yesterday while I was at work, the stereo from my car was stolen from the park and ride I park at. They managed to get into the car without breaking any windows but took my whole stereo. They took:

Head Unit: Pioneer AVH-P4900DVD (flip out touch screen)
Metra Face Plate (for a ford Escort/Contour)
Sirius in dash radio module for a Pioneer - they did not take the antenna and the unit has been disabled through Sirius
Two 6 1/2 round JL Audio Door speakers with 1 inch wood spacers
Two JL W3v2 12" subs in a sealed box
One Visonik 2800 Watt amp (picture below is what it looks like - I don't have the exact picture of mine)
A 1 farad no-name capacitor - I really don't remember details about this.

They also took my broken radar detector and my car charger for my phone. They left the 20+ CD's I had in the car.
They broke the plastic around my steering column (probably looking for a remote start) and managed to do all this without the ability to open my trunk.
I know this much because i have no trunk pop button and only the key can open it.

Whoever did this knew what the hell they were doing and didn't damage anything else.

This all happened in Old Bridge, New Jersey so if you know of anyone trying to sell components or a system that sound like it may be mine please let me know or contact the Old Bridge Police Department at 732-721-4000.

If you are a member of a local forum in the Jersey/New York area please post this for me. I don't have any illusions that I'm going to find any of this stuff but it can't hurt to try.

Thanks in advance,
Chuck

Good Luck! Hard to track stuff like this down. Id imagine most people that do this are just out to get equipment for them self. I have learned in the past not to advertise car audio equipment around where I live and it has proven to be the best defense against theft. That and stealth installs

do you use the key fob when you lock your car?
There was a rash of guys here that would sit in there van and pick off codes from key fobs somehow and get the license plate numbers run them and the next day stereos and nav stuff all gone. no windows broken or anything like that.

I will browse the CL for you from time to time, sorry about your loss.

Yea, I've been all over Craigslist and such, no luck. It looked to me like someone that knew what they were doing so i doubt they'd be that stupid.

Thanks man. I'm not really one to advertise what I have in the car. They probably just broke in to take my door speakers and headunit which unfortunately are very visible and got lucky when they looked behind the back seat.

I use a key fob, but it's pretty clear that they pried the window open. and stuck something in to unlock it. Unfortunately ZX2's are incredibly easy to break into.
