Any TX LEO's that can chime in on if its legal? Maybe it wasnt noticed

Oh dear god in the great state of Texas I'm sure it's a felony like other serious crimes such as :blowing your nose in a disposable napkin, not calling your mom on Mother's Day, owning a small breed dog, ripping the tag off your mattress. My experience find the right dick and it would turn into a big deal, but Texas let a lot of stuff slide if you are from the state. I got a major ass chewing over a clear license cover on a trailer. Covering, altering the plate in any matter was a big no-no.

Correct, dont focus on the letter combo, it was made as a gift with the same reflective material to look like the new tx plate. The new ones have a half a star where the cobra is on mine

I would not rock that plate on the open hiway where DPS roams... I got pulled over for "tinted" taillights on I35 north of Roundrock. They where the Raxium replacements from AM. It was a "fix it" ticket and I printed the sale page with a copy of my receipt... I think he was fishing for something else and the what looked like tinted tail lights gave him the PC to pull me over. Yet here in town I see all kinds of tinted head/tailinghts, SAPD doesnt care.... That said they look cool, but you might not want to run them...

It may be because I'm half a sleep, but I had to stare real hard at them to realize there is a Snake and SVT spelled out on them lol. I focused more on the Letter and Number sequence more than anything else.

There are so many different options for plates you can get now, they probably don't even know it's not something you can buy. You can get a state issued plate with almost every sports team, or save the whales, or whatever else, so they probably just think this is another option you can buy. As long as the numbers work when they run your plates you'll probably never have an issue.

You likely won't ever have an issue with it being on the front of the car, however, there could be an issue. I brought this up to a trooper even and we pretty much had the same thoughts about it.

If we noticed it on a stop then we'd require it to come off the vehicle as it's a fictitious license plate (although correct registration). It could be a writable offense under transportation code of 502.409.

I do like it though!

IMO I wouldn't want to risk driving around with fake plates, even though they look good. Especially if you get pulled over for speeding lol

Ya it's definitely not legal....but as already mentioned, there are so many variations available thru myplates.com nowadays, I doubt most officers would notice. It looks pretty similar at first glance to the other black plate options.

I have a funny story on plates here in Texas.....I have the black "1845" plates with license TRMN8D. No big deal, right? Well.....one day in the mail I get a string of toll tickets from the North Texas Toll Authority up in the DFW area. Only problem is, I live over 7 hours away in south Texas and was not driving up there whatsoever.

I look closely at the NTTA video capture still photo of the car going through, and sure enough it's a torch red terminator. I'm like the wtf? Then I look closer at the plate....it has TRMN8D but the problem is it's a "T" plate. T TRMN8D is the complete license.

Took me several phone calls to NTTA to finally get someone to listen to what I was telling them and for them to realize they had sent these toll tickets to the wrong damn owner. There are so many variations on these plates, even the authorities get them mixed up! Pretty alarming, actually. What if they make that mistake and a vehicle is used in a crime? Jeezus have mercy. Lol.
