That's great! Glad to see others going with the Whipple. Just got mine last week and it went on today. Still waiting to get the Focus pumps in and then it is ready for a tune.

Let me know what kind of horspower you get. I went with the next smaller pulley to make sure I get to 600+ horsepower.

Hope it doesn't take long for you to get the engine back together and see what she does.

I'm planning on going with only 13psi until my AEM computer gets here, then I plan on going with 17psi. Right now I'm debating on whether or not to stroke my engine out to 5.0, since my engine is going to be pulled and taken apart soon to install the new pistons, but all the kits seem kind of expensive.

your kinda funny. you treat installing new pistons like an oil change.

the cyl will need to be honed, the pins fitted, the assembly balanced, the rings file fit, and the whole thing assembled.

not to mention that you should get new bearings and a new oil pump with billet gears.

I know what needs to be done, I've already gone to two different performance shops here. One shop is going to pull my engine, tear it down and take it to another machine shop here to get honed .020 to work with my JE pistons. I'll have the bearings replaced if need be, and I'm not ordering any more parts until I find out exactly what the tick is. The only reason I'm going to the JE pistons is because I've heard of to many issues with the teflon wearing off the stock factory pistons and I want to replace them now at the same time the Whipple gets installed.

I'll let you all know what I find out about that tick once I'm told.

I'm looking at somewhere around $4,000-$5,000 for parts and labor, but what choice do I have. That tick is driving me nuts and I don't want to install my new blower until it's fixed.

I know it will be a lenghty and costly thing, but I'm just kind of anal about my cars. When they make a noise it's not supposed to make I want it fixed. Besides, I have my SVT Focus to tool around in as my daily driver anyways.

if you're "only" running 17psi then stockers would last you pretty well with a proper tune (ie not tuning around a pegged MAF)

I am running 17psi setup as well. A good fuel system, MAF, and tune are all that's needed.

No need for a new PCM you're wasting money there IMO at 17psi. SCT Pro has everything you need.

I am going to try to get the most out of my stock pistons since I already paid for them...

What's the name's of the two Performance shops your taking your car to?

CP performance to do the engine pull/replace, and HBR motorsports to do the hone, install the pistons, and balance work.

I also took my car to Silver State Motorsports to see if the could do the engine pull sooner, but they are backed up on thier jobs (this is where I usually go for my dyno pulls)

Factor X performance (they usually work on NSX's) is doing my AEM computer install once it gets here.

Where in N. Vegas are you? I also live in N. Vegas, near the Cannery Casino on Craig.

True, but I get a kick out of being able to reprogram at the touch of a laptop keyboard when I want to change pulleys. If I'm going to the track and want to run 17 psi I can change pulleys and click a few buttons and be ready to go, then change back to the stock 13psi pulley, click some buttons again and be on my way. Besides, the 3D image of what the engine is doing looks cool:thumbsup:

grey, best of luck on your new buildup. seems like you did you home work well. going with the whipple and the je pistons. replacing the 2 weakest points of the motor with the best.

Thanks. I figure since the Whipple will run much cooler than the stock Eaton at the higher boost levels, and swapping out the pistons for the JE's, everything should run smoother without any fear of "overheating" issues.

If that is indeed the Steeda Spoiler, it actually looks pretty good. Thats just probably the worst angle to take a pic of it, it makes it seem very high off the deck. Its actually no higher than a GT spoiler, and its functional:beer:

Yes, but that picture isn't really that good, it looks much better in person. Here is another picture from a distance...
