Well, it’s better when the carpet matches the drapes.Nah, from Rapid Red to Oxford White. First time in my life I ever felt driven to change the exterior color to match the seats...
I like the white, can’t wait to see what you do to this one.

The transmission alone is $25k.
I disagree with that. In 2013 F-150 King Ranch versions had MSRPs of $52k, now they're upwards of $73k, and the trucks haven't had near the advancements in technology as the GT500.
The transmission alone is $25k.
If these transmissions are fragile and people start doing traditional GT500 mods this will be a severe wakeup call for many. I wonder was there any real benefit in not just using the 10spd auto?
Whoever is making Ford's packaging decisions on these Mustangs needs to be ousted. I mean this car is expensive as far as a Mustang goes, no doubt. So when one forks over this level of cash, some of these packaging decisions look suspect. I feel like for $75k, why not include the B&O system, handling pack, and Recaros. Matter of fact, all the GT350's and GT500 should have Recaros standard. Vinyl Stripes obviously should not be double vs 350 either (not even commenting on the painted stripes). The only option should have been the carbon track pack and carbon dash. This pricing is kind of a slap in the face to the Mustang community. Car should've maxed out around $85k.I don't disagree with the vinyl stripes costing the same, etc.
Charging more on a higher end vehicle also garners for respect though. Capitalism at its finest.

You're crazy to think a loaded one should've been priced at $85k. Hell, I thought they would start at $85k.
Just for giggles, what was your rationale on the $85k start price? For what it is and vs the other pony cars $85k max is where it should've been. Still would've been the most expensive Mustang ever and priced above the ZL1 and Hellcat Redeye, which is overpriced. The packaging is jacked up. Seats, sound system, blis, and handling pack should be standard on your halo car. Cftp, stripes, and carbon dash make sense as options. Other than that, it's obviously a cash grab along with charging more for stripes, tech pack, and carbon dash vs. GT350. Nothing wrong with a cash grab, and hell, I really think the consumers caused it. Ford just seems to be shamelessly capitalizing on it. The whole Shelby lineup is out of bounds at this point. GT350's and R's have boldly crept up $12k and now this. I say let's go back to Cobras.
Matter of fact, all the GT350's and GT500 should have Recaros standard.
Take a 2013/14 GT500. Add the transmission. You get $85k. That's without ANY of the other technological advances. Everyone was ready to rock and roll with a 662hp car that started for $55k and got up to $67k. Add 100 hp, a badass DCT, better suspension, wheels, tires, etc etc etc etc. I still can't believe you can buy a base one for in the $70ks, that's a steal.
EDIT: Do you know how much it would cost me to put a DCT and add 100hp to my car? $100k, on the low side.
I have to disagree on the Recaro thing. When someone looks for 13-14 GT500, don't they desire the Recaros? And the same with GT350's? Those seats should be standard and the other seats offered at no cost. The Recaros are an "upgrade". Majority of the public do not want them, certain people will. Those certain people will pay for them. $1,595 for two Recaro seats is ridiculous. Go price them after the fact.
I ordered Tillet seats for my car, spent $5k on them.
The trans cost is moot point. Drivetrain costs are always astronomical in the early days when priced through parts department. You don't pay that cost directly when you actually purchase a car though. Take an 03 Cobra for example. When I 1st got mine I worked for Ford. They were around $34k new. The engine was over $20k when priced through parts, yet the 2003 Cobra was not $20k over the last gen. And to that point they probably could've used the 10spd auto, gotten the same results, and been cheaper. I think Ford may be recouping something with this Shelby lineup. The GT350 range increase is well outside the normal for what we normally see in a generation of Mustangs. I can't believe we have normalized this. GT350's have increased $12k and we just hum along. And i think this has dictated the GT500 price more than any other advancements. And how about the GT350R msrp being above the GT500 to start? Weird

People actually buying the cars will opt for Recaros though, as long as there are no constraints. And the 10spd ZL1 outran a McLaren 570S around Willow Springs (I think) with Randy Pobst at the wheel. With Ford having access to essentially the same transmission I can't see the DCT being a must have in the case of the GT500, from a performance standpoint. Especially when you add in the cost and complexity factor this new box will present. This new transmission is 100x's better than the 10-speed, which wouldn't have been practical at all in this car.
Prices have gone up $12k, but more options have become standard on the GT350s, so the price should go up.
It depends. Some do, some don't.
I'm saying the vast majority of every person in the world, would opt for the regular seats.

Totally agreed and one of the main reasons I want one. This DCT is a huge upgrade in performance from both 10R and conventional manual. I’ve talked to both Tremec and Ford Performance engineers on the DCT and it’s alwsys positive, even when asking the Tremec guys on how much it can tolerate. Seeing a cutaway of the DCT and the Magnum I currently put 1000rwhp thru and the DCT looked more robust. Ford and Tremec (and GM for that matter) aren’t going to gamble on unproven tech. I’ve had faith in both companies for years and I’ll gladly spend $75k+ on a GT500 next year.If you have a MY20 GT500 with the 10-speed and then one with the 7-speed DCT...you'll see a considerable lap time difference. (NO other factors, just transmission).
This transmission is the real deal.
Ditto for me. The DCT was one of the main reasons I ordered a 500.Totally agreed and one of the main reasons I want one. But again, I’m a buyer, no just posting opinion.

I understand that the cost to Ford isn't really 25k, but you have to take into account the actual cost and R&D. This adds to the price of the car. Yes Ford is taking some of the cash that the dealers were getting. The trans cost is moot point. Drivetrain costs are always astronomical in the early days when priced through parts department. That is why this car is upping the game(Just like Ford did with the GT350). If Ford just rinsed and repeated (like Dodge) it wouldn't be as desirable as it is.With Ford having access to essentially the same transmission I can't see the DCT being a must have in the case of the GT500
