+1 for Kenneth Miley Jr Alternator. I got one on my car no issues so far. I now own his old cobra. Honest guy won't do you wrong.
I’m in the market for an alternator for my 03 Cobra. My alternator just died on me two days ago. I’d like some advice on brand and output to get.
Curious.. why did you make a change? Did it go out or did you get a larger amp alt?
My first J2fab alternator didn't last long nor did it hold voltage at idle. The fix was to buy the more expensive denso / hairpin unit. It lasted 1229 miles.
My re manufactured alt from Ford is 5 years old and still working fine, only reason i decided to upgrade was due to the big fuel system, Sub-woofer, and Amp i just added. I was concerned the bigger draw would have an affect later down the road, and how it may affect my fuel pumps.
Over the weekend i installed the J2Fab 180 amp unit. So far so good, at idle multi meter was showing 14.88v.
There's good and bad for every model/manufacturer. Mine J2Fab starts around 14.9 at cold idle. Drops to 14.2 when everything is warm and stays there. The voltage on my logs is a flat line. It's always above 14v. The last log I looked at was from racing my buddy. That was after having the A/C on for about 45 minutes and running up the freeway in 90+ heat. Voltage never dropped.
Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself.
The bad thing is j2fab offers no customer service.
I’ve never had a problem with him.

If your in a pinch you can grind off the stop tab on the tensioner to give you a bit more travel to slip the belt on if it's close. I wouldn't reccoment this long term though.Help!!!! I have a stock lower and a 2.75 whipple SC pulley. I just got a Kenneth Miley alternator. I was told to get a 3.2 alternator pulley and now my Original belt won’t fit. Any idea what size belt I can use so I can get my car back on the road?
