I'm going to be doing some automotive painting, two front fenders and a bumper cover on my 2000 Expedition and later a couple of plastic trim pieces on the wife's car so I need to buy a paint gun. I have a huge compressor, so air is not an issue, I'm not going to be painting an entire car with it, just a few areas and I'd like to keep the cost under $150. What do you guys suggest for a decent paint gun under $150?

TIA for you input

EDIT: I looked at this one yesterday http://www.lowes.com/pd_301337-47120-SGY-AIR86_4294813359_4294937087_?productId=3360950&Ns=p_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&pl=1&currentURL=%2Fpl_Air%2BTools%2BPneumatics_4294813359_4294937087_%3FNs%3Dp_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr%7C0%7C%7Cp_product_qty_sales_dollar%7C1%26page%3D2&facetInfo=#BVRRWidgetID

Buy a DeVillibis Finishline 3 HVLP gravity fed gun. I've done 3 panel jobs and an all over with this gun and it lays out nice if you know what you're doing.

All of these pictures are straight out of the gun. Sprayed with PPG Shopline JC660.

Thanks

I found the one you recommended with three tips, 1.3/1.5/1.8, here for $169.98 + freight Item Detail

2 Questions:

1) How's their price on it?
2) Do I need all three tips? They sell the same gun with one tip (your size choice) for $129.98 + freight

I second the Finishline series.

The tip size is based off the material you're spraying; in general I spray my base w/ 1.3 and clear w/ 1.4. The 1.8 would be for primer.

Careful using the same gun for base and clear, if you don't get all the metallics/pearl out of your gun, you may end up having some sparkly clear! :)

I spray everything with the 1.5, just need to be cautious with basecoat. I never put primer through the gun, I personally prefer to use a separate gun for primer. If you intended on putting primer through the gun you would need a larger tip, unless your spraying a thin primer.

I've never had an issue spraying base and clear through the same gun, but I am very particular about cleaning it. I clean it between base and clear thoroughly and always clean it well before storage.
