Need some help figuring out what this is

I assume its something for emissions or EGR or something like that. But here recently, my car has been slightly surging and occasionally dies when i put the clutch in and hit the brakes.

Looking for vacuum leaks, i found this little tiny hose broken:

here is where the closest connection is. It is right below this electrical connector

here is actually where its broke. Should i get a tube to fix it or just put some JB weld on the ends to cap them off? I have no idea what its for.

+1. I used coffee stirrer straws to patch ones on my 5.0.

that is for the air tube valve that goes down to the exhaust manifold.

Just grab some rubber tube that's almost the same size and repair.

Its a vaccume, looks like it broke, that red tube is brittle. Just get a thick rubber tube and put it over it....problem solved....

Doug, I have the same problem. Occasionally when I am coasting down a hill with the clutch engaged and on the brake my engine stutters at idle and then wants to die. Doesnt happen all the time and I can usually tell when its going to happen because the rpms drop down faster than normal, so I just give it some gas before it hits idle. I have never found the cause, but will check the same area on my car to see if that part looks the same.
