need some help

i have an exhaust leak in up front of my car, so i was just going to have the manifolds to the mufflers done... but i was going to take out my cats if i do it.. so would i lose any horsepower from doing this or gain any???

You should pick up a little bit on the high end b/c you'll be eliminating some backpressure in the exhaust.

96tang, this might seem dumb but make sure you can clear codes for inspection and that you have someone that wont do a visual to see if the cats are there.

If I remember correctly, it has 4. I threw mine out after I got the O/R X. What if you eliminated all of them? I'll tell you what... It sounds mean as hell!:burnout:

That's correct. The 04 should have only 4 cats, but some years of the 4.6 do have 6. My 97 GT had 6, and my friends 96 GT had 6 as well so I'm guessing its a 96-98 thing.

Now that you say that, I think it is a 96-98 thing. My best friend had a 98 with 6 cats. But yea, definately take the cats off...
