I own a 2013 5.0 and I was wanting to cut down some weight if I could. I am looking to cut at least 100 lbs if possible. I don't know if a thread already exists regarding cutting down some pounds on the new 5.0s and if it does please post a link. It is a daily driver and I want it to keep that look i.e. removing the back seats is not an option. Any ideas?

The money spent buying light weight stuff could be spent added 10hp which would be same and probably cost less

From what I've looked at for my car...

Sway bar delete
Strut tower delete
Speaker delete
Axle weights
Lighters wheels tires
All the extra sealer crap in the trunk and under the rear seats
Seats
Hood liner
Washer fluid
Trunk carpet
1pc drive shaft
Cat delete
Ab exhaust
Go to the gym

I think 100lbs would be easy. It's after that where it gets expensive. I have a loaded CS so I'm screwed on weight

Well at some point I would like to go FI probably Twin Turbo, so just trying to get a higher power/weight ratio. Lightweight wheels are on the list as well as an aluminum drive-shaft. I'll take out the spare as well just curious if there was anything else that could be done?

That's a good start!

That's not what he's asking!!! Looks like he wants to cut weight and who knows maybe do other mods that add power later.

Lighter wheels, changing the exhaust (getting rid of cats and heavy stock mufflers), 1 piece aluminum driveshaft(or carbon fiber), BMR tubular k-member along with A-arms and light weight radiator support! This should be more than enough to get you what you want.

Rear seats are light , I would think the delete kits weigh more than the seat actually does

Building a fast car is more then just adding power to it. Things like tubular k, tubular lca's etc and alum driveshaft help a lot.

Stainless works Catback - Saves 38#
Cut the cats and save another 10# or so
Alum DS - 19# (rotating mass is even better)
Front Sway bar delete - 18#
Axle weights - about 5#
Trunk shit - 10# or so

There ya go thats 100# without doing anything crazy.

Do a lightweight battery if you live in a warm climate and save another 15#
Stock wheels/tires are around 65# each if I remember correctly.

Do not delete the rear seats, you will pick up way to much road noise.

^ This. 100%.
Between some Bigs and Littles, and emptying your trunk and front sway bar delete ALONE you should already have shaved at least 100lbs.
